Congratulations to Freshers Ed Goodman and Alex Malouf who have won the inaugural St Andrew’s College collaborative writing competition.
Alex and Ed impressed the judges with their article exploring the relationship between toxic masculinity and vodka raspberry! Their reward involves seeing their winning entry in print, as well as a cash prize.
We would like to thank the judges who devoted their time to both judge the entries and work with the students to get their work into published form. The judging panel consisted of:
- Ashley Gray, sports writer and subeditor
- Amala Groom, Wiradyuri conceptual artist and St Andrew’s College 2021 artist in residence
- Wayne Erickson, Principal
- Alex Wright, Teaching Fellow – Arts
- Kiran Gupta, Editor, Drew’s News
The competition is the brainchild of Kiran Gupta, an Arts / Law student at the University of Sydney. He said:
“The judges were incredibly impressed by the standard of all the submissions and the time and effort put in by all entrants. The entries were very diverse and included opinion pieces, fiction stories and art journals.”
Special mention also goes to the winners of the editor’s choice award: Nina Friars (fr 2020) and Netra Hankins (fr 2020).
We look forward to reading the winning entry in the June issue of Blue & White magazine and on the Drew’s News blog.
