St Andrew’s College recently welcomed some very special guests to our annual Mother’s Dinner and the students were delighted to show their appreciation for their mums and all they do.
Mia Thomas (fr 2019) gave an entertaining ‘To the Mothers’ speech, her mother Sarah Macnaught responded ‘To the Children’ while Mia Mossenson (fr 2019) discussed mothers and Australian culture in ‘To the Commonwealth’. Guests were entertained by a jazz band featuring Jim Osborne (fr 2019).
The guest speaker was Alexia Newsome, Fundraising & Relationships Manager for the Full Stop Foundation and the event organising committee donated $1,500 to the organisation.
Mia Thomas, who is a College Pastoral Care Leader, said:
“We are aware of how prevalent these issues are in Australia, so during Domestic Violence Awareness month we were pleased to contribute to such a relevant and worthwhile cause.”
The Full Stop Foundation raises funds to resource the work of Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia which supports people affected by sexual, domestic or family violence through confidential counselling and specialist help, as well as advocating to prevent and end violence.
