Harry Mitchell (fr 2019) was elected to be Rawson Representative in the House Committee for 2021.
Here, he shares some thoughts about the year ahead:
Your degree and university: Bachelor of Economics at the University of Sydney,
What you are most looking forward to in 2021 at College: I am very excited to be a part of the planning process of Welcome Week in 2021. Personally, Welcome Week was an amazing opportunity to build friendships, enrich myself in our College’s proud culture and have an absolutely ripper time. The 2021 freshers deserve to have the same experience and I can’t wait to help the leadership group deliver this for them.
What you hope to achieve in your House Committee role next year: As Rawson Representative of 2021, I want to ensure that the Rawson Cup remains at Drew’s. I understand that the COVID-19 spectator restrictions in 2020 affected the College’s ability to support our teams. In 2021, my goal is to reinvigorate the College crowds to louder, prouder and more passionate than they have ever been.
Advice for 2021 freshers: Fresher year is widely regarded around college as one of the best years of your life. However, your fresher year is what you make it. My advice to the fresher cohort of 2021 is to not be scared to put yourself out of your comfort zone. Go to the social events, support your peers at the sport and make the most out of every single opportunity you can. But most importantly show some “TIKKAAAA”.
